
Dyer and Scott Ltd was originally started by Ronald Dyer back in 1958 and the two sites in Clifton and Portishead were covered by him on a part time basis. His son Nick Dyer (dispensing optician)joined the business in 1981 and Rob Scott (optometrist) 5 years later. Nick and Rob found they had a very similar outlook towards optometry and dispensing.

I qualified as an Optometrist, also known as an Ophthalmic Optician, in Queensland Australia in 1979. After graduation I worked in Queensland and the Northern Territory for five years providing aflying Optometric service to remote communities in the outback. This unique role gave me access to more primary eye care and unusual medical conditions than the usual graduate optometrist.

My name is Richard Mansfield, I own and run Mansfield Opticians, a small independent opticians in Wells, still England's smallest city. I graduated from Cardiff University, at that time UWIST(University Wales Institute of Science & Technology) in 1983 and following a compulsory year gaining practical, clinical experience in Cornwall, I qualified as an optometrist in 1984.

Watson & Smith Opticians was established in 1992 when Optometrists Adrian Smith and Andrew Watson became successors to Focal Point Opticians at their present site in Taunton.
