A lot of that time was spent as manager of Dollond & Aitchison, Eyedeal Vision and finally Crown Optical Centre in Lytham. One evening I was walking past Lytham windmill on the green, telling myhusband Colin about a problem that a lady customer had when visiting another opticians. Annoyingly, her eyelashes were touching her lenses when she blinked. Would you believe, by a member of staff at an opticians in Lytham, she'd been advised quite sharply I was told, to actually cut her eyelashes.

Normally the NHS will only pay for a sight test every two years, but if you have problems with your eyes, or your optician recommends it, then you might be able to have your eye test paid for moreoften. This is likely if you are diabetic, over 40 and have a family history of glaucoma, or are 70 or over.
Optometrists test sight and prescribe and dispense spectacles and contact lenses. Over the past ten years Nikki and her Team have provided me with an excellent service. The personal touch andattention to detail is second to none and is a far cry from the conveyor belt approach and hard sell you find these days in supermarket opticians and large company chains.
